Stars of the new film musical Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Russell Crowe, and Huge Jackman have attended the world premiere in London together with reportedly 3,000 other guests.
The film, which is based on the stage musical with the same title, was directed by Oscar award winner Director Tom Hooper. It is understood that he hopes the film will attract those people who don’t love musicals.
Crowe plays police inspector Javert who hunts Jean Valjean, played by Hugh Jackman. On the other hand, Anne Hathaway, who reportedly had to lose weight as well as cut her hair for the movie, plays the role of a factory worker who later on became a prostitute.
Anne admitted that cutting her hair for the role wasn’t easy. She told the BBC in one report that:“It was very challenging to my vanity but as soon as it was done I was fine with it. It was for my job.”
One thing that set apart this film from the rest is that the actors sang live on the set instead of pre-recording their vocals in a studio.
Amanda Seyfried who has also done another musical;Mama Mia! plays Cosette. She talked about singing livein the same report: “I'm not an accomplished singer, so I had some trouble with the stamina aspect of singing all day long.”
