Legendary Hollywood star Mickey Rooney died on Sunday after battling long illness. He was 93.
After starting acting in the 1930s, Rooney enjoyed one of the longest careers in showbusiness and was most famous for playing the role of Andy Hardy in over 20 films.
Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith confirmed that the actor was with his family when he died at his North Hollywood home. He added that there was nothing suspicious about the death and that it is not considered as police case. No other details were released.
Mickey’s personal life is as colourful as his professional acting career. He married eight times and fathered seven sons and four daughters.
Through divorces, money problems and career droughts, he kept returning with customary vigor.
'I've been coming back like a rubber ball for years,' he said in 1979.
Rooney was among the last survivors of Hollywood's studio era, which his career predated. Rooney signed a contract with MGM in 1934 and landed his first big role alongside Clark Gable in Manhattan Melodrama.
