BBC’s Xmas line-up will include Strictly Come Dancing, Call the Midwife, Still Open All Hours and the controversial Argentina episode of Top Gear

BBC’s Christmas programming has been designed not to disappoint this year with a mix of old and new shows set to run over the festive season.
The lineup includes familiar drama series, a blast of Strictly Come Dancing, the traditional Doctor Who, and the last ever episode of Miranda.
The adaptation of Ronald Dahl’s classic book Esio featuring Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench will also be added along with Still Open All Hours, which is the reprise of the classic sitcom starting Sir David Jason.
However, it is predicted that the controversial episode of Top Gear from Argentina will generate the most interest. It’s already sparked fury before it finished filming.
The episode was rocked mid-production by locals in Argentina who took offence at the H982 FKL numberplate on a Porsche driven by Jeremy Clarkson, believing it was a reference to the 1982 Falklands conflict. Clarkson, who denied that allegation, had to hide under his bed and eventually flee Argentina after an angry mob searched their hotel and tried to attack them.
Other programmes that will be broadcast over Christmas include On Angel Wings, an animated version of the nativity story based on a book by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo.
