KB Home Offer Smarter Homes
Los Angeles-based homebuilder KB Home to offer homebuyers technology to make their households smarter and healthier.

KB Home, a Los Angeles-based homebuilder, will start offering homebuyers new technology designed to make their households healthier and smarter starting this spring.
Called Darwin, the technology has been designed by Delos, a New York-based technology startup.
Delos Founder and CEO Paul Scialla refers to Darwin as “wellness brain for the home.” It uses a combination of hardware and software to monitor and control water filtration, air quality and even circadian lighting. It enables users to customise the settings so the technology will automatically adjust their home's lighting in order to mimic the rising and setting sun to help them maximise their energy levels. The technology also uses sensors that can automatically detect allergens and other harmful substances in the air.
“This is meant to take the conversation of smart home into smart-healthy,” says Scialla. “A home is not smart if it is not healthy.”
Dan Bridleman, head of sustainability and technology at KB, said: “Instead of health and wellness as an obscure thing here is a way to demonstrate how to use technology to make your home give back to you.”
