When news of the end of the marriage between Katy Perry and Russell Brand broke, the pop star was on a concert tour and showed no signs of despair over the failed marriage to her actor/presenter beau. But the singer’s new documentary film entitled Katy Perry: Part of Me recently revealed otherwise.
The film, which was shot during her 2011 your, began with a happy note, depicting the starlet in love and happy. Over the course of the film, however, it became obvious that the couple started spending very little time together. The film also showed how Katy was often the one making the trips just to spend time with her husband.
Katy Perry held nothing back as the film showed her despair regarding the breakdown of her marriage. At one point, she was filmed sobbing backstage before her concert in Brazil, but transforming into the happy and energetic concert performer once the concert started.
In another scene, she was shown asking her crew when the next break on her tour would be since she wanted to fly and be with Brand. She was then told that it would take another 18 days before they could see each other, which clearly upset her.
A friend remarks, “She should be resting, but she wants to fly to wherever Russ is to show she cares. She’s running herself ragged.”
“I’m fighting to keep my marriage alive,” the singer, at one point, admitted.
The documentary also showed Brand’s side of the matter, though, when it showed a sequence where Brand mentioned the couple’s “future children” in a text, which Katy replied with a text that clearly indicated she currently had no plans to have children. This was obviously a major issue between the couple.
Their relationship problems eventually led to Brand filing for divorce in December 2011, after just 14 months of marriage.
Presently, upon reflecting on her film, Katy was able to see things at a clearer perspective. “Love is a dream but the reality is making it work. I did everything I could, but it still failed,” she finally concluded.
