The legal team for actress Katie Holmes has confirmed that the former love interest of Tom
Cruise has reached a settlement for their divorce. Katie reportedly gets sole custody of their daughter Suri.
The agreement was arrived at out of the court, which means that Cruise’s religion, the church of Scientology, no longer faces the risk of being scrutinized in a trial.
Jonathan Wolfe, Katie’s lawyer, concluded that, “This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed.”
He also added that, “We are thrilled for Katie and her family, and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”
Wolfe also thanked Tom’s legal team for being professional and diligent, which helped make the highly-publicised divorce a very short one.
According to the settlement, Katie will indeed get sole custody, as she wished, while Tom will be
given significant custodial time with Suri. Separate sources say that while she will be living in New York with Katie, Suri will visit Tom weekly while accompanied by her nanny and a team of bodyguards. This detail, however, has not been clarified.
The agreement also reportedly specifies what each party is allowed to tell Suri regarding religion, which includes Tom’s highly controversial one. These restrictions, however, will ease up the older Suri gets.
Suri will also not be expected to attend a Scientology school.
