Jonathan Trott, who said “I don't feel it is right that I am playing knowing that I'm not 100 per cent”, has left the tour due to stress related illness.
It was revealed that the England batsman has been suffering with the condition for several years.
Following David Warren’s comments saying that the player was “weak” and “scared”, Trott said: "My priority now is to take a break from cricket so that I can focus on my recovery."
Meanwhile, England coach Andy Flower said: "Trotty has been suffering from a stress-related condition for quite a while. He’s always managed it very successfully.
"He needs quiet time with his family and this isn’t the type of environment for that type of rest and recuperation he requires."
Trott’s team-mate, Stuart Broad has expressed his support via Twitter. He wrote: "Love Trotty. Absolute champion of a man. He knows he has the support of all the people around him. Puts cricket into perspective."
Professional Cricketers Association boss Angus Porter said that Trott’s decision to leave is a brave thing to do. “This requires bravery, admitting to a problem very publicly and leaving a tour and team-mates, that's the brave thing to do.
"It would have been much easier in many ways to plough on, and not address the problem and maybe that's what people would have done 10 or 20 years ago and we'd never have know why they performed badly.
"From a cricketing point of view we would want to give Jonathan and his family the time, space and privacy to get on and address the problem.
