JLS top the charts
The X Factor finalists' first single has gone straight to No 1...
08:53 20 July 2009
X Factor finalists JLS have topped the UK singles chart with their debut track 'Beat Again'.
The group, made up by Marvin Humes, Jonathan Gill, Ason Merrygold and Ortise Williams, have managed to sell over 100,000 copies – the biggest-selling first week for a debut single so far this year.
'Beat Again' is also the tenth X Factor No 1 since the show began in 2004.
JLS made it as one of the final two acts on the X Factor last year, losing out only to Alexandra Burke in the public vote.
Their debut single has taken over the top spot from Euro-pop act Cascada, who had been there for two weeks.
Michael Jackson retains the No 1 spot in the album charts with 'The Essential' for the third week running.
