John Whitbread could have been married by now and should be on his way to his honeymoon. However, his ex-fiancé has dumped him last Christmas and canceled the wedding.
Unable to get a refund on his honeymoon, he advertised for a woman to replace his ex on the £2,000 all-inclusive four star luxury resort stay. This week, Kelly Wood and John met for the first time live on TV before flying to the Dominican Republic.
Admitting they both have jitters, they hugged and exchange hand shakes.
John, who works at a brick plant, said: ‘I was gutted when she said she didn’t want to get married but I realised I couldn’t mope forever and I didn’t want what I’d already paid to the holiday to go to waste.
‘Besides, I think it will be good for me to get away. I’m just looking for a new friend who fancies a holiday with someone fun.’
His advert said: ‘I’m not boring, I’m adventurous otherwise I wouldn’t be doing something as ridiculous as this.
‘I’ve got no criminal record but sometimes I should be locked up for my snoring!’
