Jennifer Saunders: I've finished Absolutely Fabulous film script

The comedy star and writer has confirmed that she has finished the first draft of the script.

It looks like Eddie and Patsy are heading to the big screen after Jennifer Saunders, the Absolutely Fabulous star and creator, has confirmed that she has completed the script for the long rumored movie.

"I’ve finished the first draft. I’m feeling euphoric," she said, adding: "[m]y proper New Year’s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it’ll be a pointless year of procrastination."

The show chronicles the misadventures of Eddie and her best friend Patsy Stone. It has spawned five seasons and numerous specials over the last 23 years. To the delight of millions of viewers, Saunders and Joanna Lumley played the women who had a knack for ageing disgracefully.

Jennifer admitted that she was pressured to finish the script. She said: "Joanna Lumley kept announcing it and saying, Yes she’s going to do it,’ and then Dawn French on our radio show at Christmas said, l bet £100,000 that you don’t write it,’ so now I have to write it, otherwise I have to pay her £100,000.”
