Former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison has landed a role in a Hollywood film.

Former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison has landed a role in a Hollywood film.

Ellison will work alongside Aussie Heath Ledger in a remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" according to The Sun.

In the original 1972 version of "The Poseidon Adventure" the part of Belle Rosen was played by Oscar-winner Shelly Winters, now Ellison is set to take on the role.

Filming of the new version of the film is set to begin in a couple of months.

A Hollywood insider told the newspaper: "Jennifer has real presence. She is perfect for this movie. She has acting experience from her days in Brookside and is a stunning girl.

"Landing a part in a movie of this scale is a dream come true for her. She'll be acting alongside Heath and other big names yet to be revealed. This film could even make her a star in America. With a big name like Heath involved, the movie could be a global hit."

The 21-year-old actress played Emily Shadwick O'Leary on Brookside from 1998-2003. She is set for her big screen debut in December this year when "Phantom of the Opera" hits cinemas.
