James To Open Glasto

James will open the 2016 Glastonbury festival as confirmed by frontman Tim Booth.

James will be the first act on the Other Stage at 11:00 on Friday 24 June. Frontman Tim Booth confirmed the details by saying: "We're going to cut the ribbon and smash the champagne on the ship.”

 

Other big name bands that kicked proceedings off in recent years include Kaiser Chiefs and The Charlatans. Meanwhile, this year’s festival in Somerset will be headlined by Coldplay, Muse and Adele.

 

Other confirmed acts include Jess Glynne, PJ Harvey and Jeff Lynne’s ELO.

 

The festival is known to wait until all tickets have been sold before revealing the full line-up.
