Despite the fact that reportedly the X-Factor has been losing viewers since 2010, the latest winner, James Arthur, has succeeded in making “Impossible” the fastest-selling X-Factor single.
Within just 24hours since its immediate release, “Impossible” was downloaded more than 187,000 times according to The Official Charts Company. This record beats Alexandra Burke’s record in the same period.
Her “Hallelujah”, which was previously the fastest-selling winner’s track, sold 147,000 copies in 2008.
The 2012 X-Factor winner said the news was mind-blowing.
James tweeted: “Wow just seen the figures for the single sales and it’s blowing my mind! Thank you all for buying it on iTunes.”
Now that James holds the record for the fastest-selling single in one day, the question now is, would he be able to beat the record for the best-selling opening week for an X-Factor single?
Shane Ward, the 2005 X-Factor winner holds the record for this category after his “That’s My Goal” sold 742,000 copies.
