Former football star Ian Wright dashed home from Brazil after burglars raided his London home on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the gang “held a blade to wife Nancy’s throat” while she was separated from children. It is understood that the four burglars left Wright’s home with personal possessions but did not physically harm any of the family members.
The 50-year-old pundit arrived home the next day. Police investigators are now hunting for four black men aged 18 to 25 with London accents.
A spokesman for Wright released a statement saying that the former Arsenal striker was ‘really upset and angry’ and wants to be with his family after their ‘terrifying ordeal.’
He said: 'Ian is currently on a flight home from Brazil now and he lands at lunchtime. He is going straight home to see his family.
'We are very grateful to ITV for being so supportive and getting him back so quickly.
'Nancy is really shaken up. Their kids are so young that hopefully they aren't going to read into it too much. They are all physically OK - Nancy and the kids.
'Ian is just really upset and angry and just wants to come back and be with his family at this time.’
Meanwhile, Wright himself tweeted: “You won’t get away with it!”
