The worst of the UK's recent dangerous weather may not be behind us yet - more storms are due.
Torrential rain and winds at speeds of 100mph and above are set to rock Britain again as the weekend progresses.
The UK saw fierce hurricane-force gusts disrupt travel with Virgin Trains even making a bold public announcement warning all passengers to "abandon travel".
Red alerts were previously issued - a high warning meaning 'danger to life' which became a tragic reality when a man in his 70s was electrocuted while attempting to clear a fallen tree amid power cables.
Two more huge storms from the Atlantic ocean will strike on Friday and Saturday and most likely continue their destruction throughout the weekend.
WeatherWeb forecaster Simon Keeling told The Daily Mirror: “It’s not over yet.
“We have to get over Saturday first of all. We can describe today’s storm as exceptional. It’s probably the strongest we have had this winter in terms of the broad area it has covered.”
The Met Office warned: “The system coming in from the south will push in and develop on Friday. Into Monday we are likely to see further wet and windy weather.”
The previous month was the wettest January on record in England.
