The people behind the 2003 version of the "The Italian Job" are considering a sequel.

"The Italian Job" seems to be following a year or two behind "Ocean's Eleven". Both were originally 1960s films, made with some of the hottest stars of their day, re-made for today's audience. Both modern versions now look set for sequels.

The original "Ocean's Eleven" starred half of Hollywood's rat-pack - with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior - while the 2001 re-make starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia and Julia Roberts. It is now being made into a sequel, "Ocean's Twelve", with Catherine Zeta Jones added to the cast.

"The Italian Job" was a 1960s classic British comedy - featuring Michael Caine, Irene Handl, John Le Mesurier and Benny Hill. The Americanised 2003 version starred Seth Green, Edward Norton and Mark Wahlberg. A sequel is now being planned after the original grossed more than $100 million in the US.

Industry magazine "Variety" has reported that the producer of the first film, John Goldwyn, is working on the sequel for Paramount Pictures.

"Variety" says the plot for the sequel, though yet to be finalised, will see the gang travel to St Tropez, Paris and the Swiss Alps.
