Is Tofu Bad For Your Health?
A man with a tofu diet had 420 kidney stones removed.

Surgeons who operated on a man spent more than two hours removing each of his 420 kidney stones. The doctors at Dongyang People’s Hospital in Jinhua City of East China’s Zhejiang province has blamed He Dong’s poor health on his high protein tofu diet.
The pain has told doctors he hate a large daily diet of gypsum tofu, a local food with high concentration of calcium sulfate.
Dr Wei Yubin explained: "Soy products, especially gypsum tofu, are very high in calcium, the excess of which cannot be excreted from body without a sufficient intake of water."
It was revealed that the patient has previously undergone a procedure to remove 10 stones 20 years ago.
"The operation almost took two hours. We spent 45 minutes just taking out the tiny stones. After the operation, my hands and legs were both numb."
The patient has been advised to change his eating habits and to drink more water to avoid the same condition from recurring.
