For those who are unaware who this global icon is, we will take a quick look at his background and how he made his millions.
Born in 1981 in the small town of Orange in Connecticut Timothy Sykes was given $12,000 of his bar mitzvah money by his parents in a bid to teach him about the value of money. With this he began trading penny stocks and was able to successfully turn it into $2,000,000 by the time he was at university in New Orleans. This prompted many of his friends and family to approach him to ask that he traded on their behalf.
Whilst still at Tulane University he established his own hedge fund so that he could do this. A hedge fund he named Cilantro. Despite its success in being rated by Barclay Group as the top hedge fund in the United States between 2003 and 2006, the fund was still only able to manage a maximum of $3,000,000. This was because trading with penny stocks is not scalable. So where other hedge funds were making the likes of $10,000,000 per year, Cilantro was only able to make between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000 per year.
The success of his hedge fund saw Timothy Sykes listed as one of the thirty under thirty Wall Street traders in Trader Monthly magazine. This, along with his one of a kind story attracted the attention of the world’s media and he even ended up appearing on trading based reality television show called Wall Street Warriors. However, because of how he felt he was portrayed, he only stayed on the show for one season.
During the airing of the highly popular television show he received a huge amount of messages from fans of Wall Street Warriors asking how they too could become successful penny stock traders. Because of this, he decided to write a book detailing of this and more called An American Hedge Fund: How I Made $2 Million as a Stock Operator & Created a Hedge Fund. He actually released a free PDF version of the book online.
Whilst all of this was happening he still continued to trade and was even ranked by Covestor as the top trader out of all 60,000 others on their platform. As a result of his book’s success he created his own blog based website called timothysykes.com. Here he shared knowledge about penny stock trading and advice to others who wanted to be traders. As well as posting information and videos, he also posted exposes on unscrupulous pump and dump scams. These were often backed by celebrities, but he was not scared to out some of the biggest names out there, including Shaquille O’Neal and Justin Bieber.
So now we know what a good trader Timothy Sykes is, and it is clear to see that he has made a lot of money from this, what about his educational business?
His current wealth is estimated at $20,000,000 with much of this actually be made from his educational business. This came about as a result of his website’s popularity. Things began with him creating three different newsletters that individuals could sign up for. His most basic one, Tim’s Alerts costs $74.95 per month and for this you get access to an exclusive chat room, a stock wish list, real time trading alerts, and access to an app. For $149.95 per month the Penny Stocking Silver newsletter provides all the same benefits, plus access to a massive video library as well as weekly video lessons.
The third of his newsletters that you can sign up to is the Trade Like Tim challenge. This costs $5,000 and involves having an interview in order to be accepted onto it. As part of this you get all of his DVDs, access to a massive video library, access to private weekly online based seminars from former successful students, access to an exclusive chat room, and a discount on all of his products and services on his website.
He has a huge catalogue of DVDs that he sell on his website for varying prices and includes titles such as New Rules of Pennystocking, Pennystocking Framework, Pennystocking, Pennystocking Part Deux, Shortstocking, Tim Raw, Tim Tactics, Tim Fundamentals, Tim Fundamentals Part Deux, Read SEC Filings, Learn Level II, and Best of Livestock.
As we can see Timothy Sykes offers a wide range of different products and services, which enable you to fully understand his penny stock trading strategy so that you can do it for yourself and become a success.
Some of his former students who have become a success as a result of following his teachings include Steven Dux, Tim Grittani, Jane Gallina, Roland, Mark Croock, and Tim Bohen. However, the level of success that you achieve is only determined by the amount of effort that you put into learning his trading strategy and honing your own skills. All of the above named students will agree with this fact, and none of them got rich over night.
You can not simply sign up to his newsletter and make trades based on his alerts and hope to make money. For starters, the penny stock trading market works too fast for that and the spreads are too big. His newsletters are there for guidance during your process of becoming an independent trader yourself.
So, is Timothy Sykes a Scammer? It is clear to see that both Timothy Sykes and many of his students have been a success in making substantial amounts of money from trading. He is definitely not a scammer, and is in fact the exact opposite of that, doing lots of work for charity. What needs to be remembered is that signing up to his services in not an instant get rich quick scheme and actually involves lots of hard work and dedication to mastering his trading strategy.
