IoT for 2018
What will dominate IoT this year? Would it be security, industrial and enterprise IoT, or smart cities?

IoT stands for Internet of Things or devices that are connected via internet, designed to automate tasks and improve security as well as efficiency and productivity, among others.
Although we might not feel its immediate effects, its potential impact is quite huge. Thus, it is no wonder why big tech vendors, including Microsoft, are investing significant resources in building IoT incubators to provide smart and effective solutions that can bring us closer to realising the idea of Internet of Everything (IoE).
Experts agree that the most crucial aspect of IoT remains to be security.
Erick Dean, Product Director of IoT, at San Francisco-based Splunk, said: “The pace of change has exceeded the rate of human capability to absorb — the cup is already full. In 2018, the real issue is how to increase the ability for people to understand the changes and their implications more clearly, and to take concrete actions to take advantage of the potential upside,” Thus, he has security at the top of his list for IoT trends in 2018, but it’s not all that’s going to happen.
