Inverness Free WiFi
Inverness free public WiFi project extended.
10:15 01 December 2017
A project that provides free WiFi in parts of Inverness has been extended to include other parts of the city. Ness WiFi, which was launched in February, is an open network free for all users and has no restrictions on time.
The service, which used to be offered only to Victorian Market and nearby streets, will now also include High Street, Inverness Castle, Eden Court and the bus and railway stations.
The project is part of a £315million joint initiative supported by the Highland Council, UK and Scottish governments, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and the University of the Highland and Islands.
Mike Smith, manager of Inverness Business Improvement District, said that the move would benefit not just local residents but also visitors to the city.
