Smart homes that use a variety of connected products offer homeowners convenience and comfort. They can perform a variety of tasks, such as turning on and off the lights and checking the content of refrigerators, so we don’t have to.
Due to the convenience they bring, BI Intelligence expects that more and more consumers will procure smart home devices including smart appliances, smart home safety and security systems, and smart home energy equipment. In its recent report, the Business Insider’s premium research service said that its expects that the number of smart home devices shipped will increase from 83 million in 2015 to 193 million in 2020.
One of today’s most popular smart home devices is Amazon Echo, which has made its way into thousands of houses around the world. It functions as a central hub for all other smart home gadgets and its voice-activated assistant, Alexa, provides convenience that few other products can match.
Experts expect that the smart home market will take off and when that happens, the next logical step is smart cities, which would take the IoT to the next level.
