Huawei Equipment to be Removed from UK 5G Network
Huawei's equipment to be completely stripped from the UK's 5G network by 2027.

The National Security Council has confirmed decision to strip Huawei's equipment from the UK's 5G network by 2027. The move follows concerns raised by the US about the Chinese tech giant's continued involvement in building the country's next-generation network.
The move, which is expected to further increase tensions with Beijing, will ban UK telecoms firm from purchasing new 5G equipment from Huawei, adding millions to the cost and deploying the delivery of the high-speed mobile network.
The decisions were finalised during the meeting chaired by Boris Johnson on Tuesday following an assessment of the impact of US sanctions by experts from the National Cyber Security Centre. Prior to the tough restrictions imposed by the US, Huawei has been approved a limited role in the UK 5G network despite concerns that it was a "high risk" vendor because of its links to the Chinese government.
