Have you been having a lot of hair fall lately? It could be hormonal; it can also be genetic. But having a fair fall that leaves bald patches is both sad and scary.
There are several ways to treat excessive hair fall. And now modern medicine has given faster and more helpful regimes to overcome hair fall or baldness in no time. Minoxidil being one of the popular medicines has brought favorable results.
What is Minoxidil Used For?
Belonging to the class of vasodilators, minoxidil has been found very useful in hypertensive patients. Other than that, it can be found in a variety such as foam, serum, and tablets.
The foam and 2 percent of minoxidil are used to treat thinning of hair in females, usually caused after giving birth. And also for hair growth. For men with a receding hairline and excess hair fall can be treated by minoxidil. But it does not help with anterior male baldness.
Minoxidil mechanism of action?
The working of minoxidil is not yet understood properly, but as they are potassium channel openers. They entrap oxygen and increase nutrient flow to the scalp.
The opening of channels produces a potential action that widens blood vessels and helps increased blood perfusion to the scalp helping the deprived and new follicles to grow and replenish.
Minoxidil solution or tablets?
The answer is that for hair regrowth or baldness treatment, the minoxidil topical solution is used. Oral tablets are given for hypertension. If the foam is given to you, mix it with 2 % minoxidil solution and rub it onto your scalp, focusing on the bald area.
Timeline for effectiveness
Minoxidil is known to work very effectively but takes almost 4-6 months to show results. The results have shown to encounter male pattern baldness and have been asked to use 1-2 times daily and consistently.
If you see a positive change in your hair quality or growth, do not stop using it right away. The new hair that is grown will fall out within three months.
Age restraints
Minoxidil has not many age restraints. But it does follow the rules of biology. If you are a young adult, then minoxidil will give your more promising and quick results. But if your hair falls and baldness is age-related, and you have an underlying disease, topical use of any medicine will not help much. Minoxidil will give you the results, but it will be slowly progressing.
So before buying yourself minoxidil, ask yourself, will minoxidil work for you? or just consult a doctor for better guidance.
Minoxidil- Finasteride
Another useful and safe way to quickly grow hair is using finasteride with minoxidil; clinically, this therapy has proven for many. As minoxidil increases oxygen and blood supply along with increased nutrients to help the follicles mature. Finasteride helps to protect the follicle and produces DHT that matures the follicle.
Lastly!
Minoxidil is a medicine, not magic, and logically hair follicles cannot grow out in one night. But results require time and patience, many have shown results within 3 months, but hair growth from 4 months onwards has more evidence. With 1-2 times of use.
