Sony has unveiled its very own voice-controlled smart speaker, LF-S50G, which houses the same Google Assistant AI that runs on Google Home.

It is activated using the command “Ok, Google”. Aside from providing answers to questions, it also controls smart home appliances and play music.
With the company’s extensive history in audio products, it is not a surprise that the device contains a separate full range speaker and subwoofer, as well as “omnidirectional two stage diffuser” that send sound in all direction around a room. It also supports gesture control, allowing users to control song choice and volume by waving their hand closely over the top of the device.
The S50G will go on sale in November with a £200 price tag – much expensive compared to its rivals Amazon Echo and Google Home.
Its other features include an LED screen, Bluetooth, near-field communication technology, and support for both Apple’s iOS and Android.
Sony has also confirmed two much-rumoured additions to its flagship smartphone range – the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, both features a full HD, HDR-supported display and a 19-megapixel rear camera. The firm also announced its new premium action camera – the RX0 – and new versions of the firm’s 1000X noise-cancelling headphones.
