Home Automation Routines
Alexa Routines make smart home automation even easier.
16:57 26 March 2018
Home automation is made easier by Alexa Routines, which is one of the best updates to the Echo Family that allows you to control multiple devices using a single phrase. Instead of using a number of voice commands to turn off each of your appliances as you head out, you can simply say “Alexa, goodbye” and it will do the trick.
To use this exciting functionality, users must start by creating a new Routine. This can be done through the Amazon Alexa app. Tap the hamburger and select Routines. Then, enter a word or phrase that you want to use. For example, you can set “Alexa, hello” so you can trigger the routine when you enter your home. Tap Save when you’re done. The next step is to choose your smart home actions. In this part, you can choose to control device or control scene. When you select control device, you will see a list of all smart home devices connected to your network. Select the option you want for each of the devices that you want to use and then tap add. Do this step until all your gadgets are added to your selected routine.
Tap the create button to create your routine. If you picked a time-based trigger, the chosen routine will be activated automatically. Otherwise, you can just say your phrase, such as “Alexa, goodnight.”
