Hidden Sugar
Concerns over added sugar in many savoury food is growing.

Early this month, Mars Food, the owner of Dolmio sauces brands, has captured the interest of the public after it made a public announcement warning buyers to consume some of its products just once a week due to high sugar, salt or fat content.
Dolmio sauces brands aren’t the only products being sold to the public with high sugar content. In fact, some of UK’s cooking sauces and condiments contain percentages of sugar that are the same or even higher than those in ice cream and biscuits. An example is Tesco Finest, a brand of ketchup that contains 38.1g of sugar per 100g, higher than 34g in every 100g of Belgian chocolate sauce from the same Tesco range.
A Tesco spokesman said: "Our food is clearly labelled with its nutritional content so customers can make informed choices about what to buy.” He added that the supermarket has "removed thousands of tonnes of salt, fat and sugar from the food we sell", including its own-brand sauces.
The National Health Service categorise any food product as “high level” if it contains more than 22.5g of sugar per 100g while anything below 5g is “low.”
