Harrison Ford 'lucky to be alive' after he crashed his single-engine plane

Harrison Ford crashed his single-engine plane onto a golf course in Los Angeles.

Hollywood actor Harrison Ford is 'lucky to be alive' after he crashed his single-engine plane onto a golf course in Los Angeles.

Reports confirmed that the actor was flying solo when the World War Two era plane he was piloting suffered engine failure. It crashed into Penmar golf course after taking off from Santa Monica Airport.  The yellow plane was mostly intact after the crash.

Ford's son Ben, took to Twitter and wrote: "At the hospital. Dad is OK. Battered but OK!

"He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man."

Meanwhile, his publicist said:  "He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care.
The injuries sustained are not life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery."

Meanwhile, Assistant LA Fire Chief Patrick Butler said that the actor was lucky to be alive.

"In my personal experience of 25 years in the department I have been involved in several plane crashes - single engine, small personal aircraft - and normally the outcomes are fatalities, so yes we are very thankful that the passenger had moderate injuries."
