Tom Hanks is set to star in 'Miss Marple'.
The double Oscar-winning actor is in talks with ITV for a guest role in the murder mystery series after admitting he is a huge fan.
Hanks is currently in the UK making the movie version of Dan Brown's hit novel 'The Da Vinci Code' at Shepperton Studios in Middlesex.
It is the same studio where the 'Miss Marple' series, starring 73-year-old Geraldine McEwan as the spinster sleuth, is being filmed and bosses have already met the star on set to discuss a possible role.
An ITV insider said: "Tom was excited when he heard they were filming on a nearby sound stage. We have approached him for a guest role and he is considering it.'
If talks are successful then Hanks will join another Hollywood star on the show.
Elliot Gould - best known for playing Ross and Monica's father in 'Friends' - is already signed up for an episode.
