Dozens of residents and councillors have submitted a string of objections over plans to build a huge 5G mast in Halesowen.
Based on the application submitted by CHK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd, the 60-foot mast and cabinets will be situated outside the Huntingtree Pub on Alexandra Road. The firm said that it is part of the scheme that involves building its infrastructure to meet the growing demand for data.
Councillor Phipps said in a letter: "Surrounding the proposed development on all sides are residential homes that front on to the central area of The Huntingtree Pub, Hasbury Community Centre and associated green spaces.
"The proposed development would be overly obstructive to the street scene, dominating the surrounding properties and trees."
A resident of Huntingtree Road said in their objection: "The proposed site is in the middle of housing.
"The local councillors have done loads to improve the area and there work will be undone by a corporate giant stepping on local residents."
Another said: "This area already has issues with traffic, drug dealing and generally looking run down.
"We do not need yet another blot on our landscape."
