Gwyneed Council has received reports from people who have received cold-calls from telemarketers claiming to selling telecare or assistive technology and requesting personal bank details over the phone. The council has since issued a warning saying it is a potential phone scam.
A spokesperson for Gwynedd Council said: "The council would never contact Gwynedd residents to sell telecare equipment, it is provided according to assessed needs and self referrals.
"Gwynedd Council is urging residents not to provide bank details to anyone, unless they are completely satisfied that the individual requesting the information is genuine and works for a legitimate, bona fide organisation."
The council is also providing a list of local businesses who have undergone a series of detailed checks in response to concerns about rogue traders.
