Slough Borough Council has assured residents that action is being taken following claims from residents that e-scooters are being dumped on pavements.
The borough council has launched a scheme in October allowing the use of e-scooters to encourage greener travel. The scheme was launched in partnership with Neuron Mobility, which supplies the orange e-scooters in the area.
Recently, both the borough council and Neuron Mobility have come under fire over safety concerns of the rental scheme. There have been reports of 'dangerous' riding by users such as using them on the pavement or causing damage to motorists' vehicles. Meanwhile, other residents have raised their concerns after seeing e-scooters 'cluttering' up pavements in multiple streets.
One of the residents, Jaspal Dhariwal, said: “On my road, the pavement is not wide and also has other obstructions such as trees and lamppost, signage etc. and my dad is a wheelchair user and if I took him out then I would have been forced into the road.”
Bosses at Slough Borough Council and Neuron Mobility have since responded saying that they are using technology to spot riders who have ventured into no-go zones.
