The latest Google doodle is celebrating what would have marked the 85th birthday of author and illustrator Maurice Sendak on Monday, 10th June, 2013.
Mr. Sendak, who wrote children’s books – notably Where The Wild Things Are – is at the centre of the latest interactive doodle from the search engine giant.
The Google homepage shows a series of cartoon images when a user hits the play button. It depicts a story that starts with a small child who stumbles upon wild things.
This then plays out to focus on In the Night Kitchen – another book from the writer.
Mr. Sendak sadly passed away in 2012. During his lifetime he also wrote Outside Over There among other books.
Where The Wild Things Are is based on a boy called Max who finds wild things and becomes King of them. Many millions of copies were sold and it became a feature film.
Mr. Sendak was born in the US in 1928.
