A stash of gold bars valued at £620,000 was discovered by cleaners working for Jet Airways inside one of their planes in the toilet.
The 24 gold bars were stuffed into a toilet compartment and found while the plane, which came from eastern city of Patna, was being cleaned at Kolkata airport in India.
Airport director BP Misha has confirmed the news and added that the 1kg bars were inside two bags. An airport official added: "They have not been claimed by anyone. No arrest has been made as yet."
India, which is one of the world’s biggest gold consumers, has witnessed a recent spike in smuggling. Import duties have been increased three times just this year to decrease the demand for the precious metal.
