Glasgow Clyde College Helps Bridge the Digital Divide

Glasgow Clyde College announces new tech courses to bridge 'digital divide'.

Glasgow Clyde College has recently announced new tech courses and modules as part of an initiative that aims to address the UK's growing digital skill gap. 

 

The college's new courses would be on cyber security, eSports, web development and data science, which will help ensure that students meet the requirements of the job market. The college also confirms plans to include the tech aspects into each of its courses, through virtual learning environments or computer-aided programmes. 

 

Jennifer Brickwood, assistant principal engineering, computing and built environment at Glasgow Clyde College said: "As the digital landscape continues to evolve, there is no doubt that, without action, the skills gap will grow. One of the new courses, the NQ Computing and eSports course, will help students develop the needed skills and social media reach so gamers can grow their portfolio and gaming audience. 

 

"So, we see it as our duty, and the duty of the educational sector, to bring technology to the forefront of our students’ education to help bridge the digital divide."
