Feminist writer Germaine Greer has had enough of life in the Celebrity Big Brother house and walked out.

She refused to discuss the reasons for her departure with her fellow housemates, simply stating that she had made up her mind and was not going to change it.

The Australian went to the Diary Room to tell Channel 4 bosses of her decision and to ask for her suitcase, before leaving the house at 12:45 GMT on day six of the series.

As housemates quizzed her on her reasons for quitting, the journalist remained coy.

"I'm leaving over specific issues, but best for everyone if I don't discuss them," she said.

"I have a problem with decisions, I make them fast and when I make them, I stick to them."

Germaine's exit comes less than 24 hours after the shock arrival of Sylvester Stallone's 71-year-old mother, Jackie.

The American arrived last night, sporting a pair of dark glasses and leaving former daughter-in-law Brigitte Nielsen speechless at the prospect of having to spend the next few days with a woman who has previously suggested she was a "hooker".

Jackie seemed to be finding it difficult to adjust to life in the house this morning and had to be guided to the bathroom by DJ Lisa I'Anson and told she was allowed to enter the kitchen by racing tipster John McCririck.

Whether she finds her bearings before she is asked to leave remains to be seen, as bookies predict she will be the first housemate to be booted out later this week.
