Funding for New Mobility Traffic Systems
Innovate UK and Oxfordshire County Council to award funding to organisations that can design new mobility traffic systems.
14:30 04 March 2019
Innovate UK and Oxfordshire County Council are awarding up to £250,000 to organisations that can help develop a traffic management system that could future-proof UK’s transport infrastructure.
Traffic networks across the country are facing new challenges due to the growth of new mobility technologies, including drones, electric vehicles and self-driving cars. Thus, the goal of the scheme is to develop a traffic management system that can accommodate both traditional and new mobility technologies throughout Oxfordshire.
The new system must be able to collect data from numerous sources and must work with CCTV and traffic light control systems. Using Internet of Things, the system must also be able to share data with different teams and organisations. The goal is for it to deliver information that will allow Oxfordshire County Council to determine identify data gaps and produce data metrics that can adapt to council policies, including changes in performance indicators.
The competition opens on 4 March 2019 and the deadline for registration is at midday on 10 April 2019. Organisations of any size can apply. A briefing event will be held in Oxford on 8 March 2019.
