CityFibre has confirmed more than £80million investment to deliver full fibre broadband service across Leicester and a citywide network that will give almost every home and business access to next-generation full fibre connectivity.
The service, which CityFibre believes to be the key to transform life for UK residents, offers near-limitless volumes of data delivered reliably at high speeds, making streaming, gaming, autonomous vehicles and 5G mobile possible.
The scheme will see CityFibre undertaking a wide-scale construction project throughout the city to build a future-proof digital infrastructure that will provide huge and wide-ranging benefits to the entire community for years to come.
The firm is taking the necessary steps to minimise and manage disruptions while work is underway. It is rolling out a hybrid approach to build and will use as much existing telecoms infrastructure as much as possible. It is working closely with local councils in regards to road works and seeking individual permits from the council's Highways team, which will ensure that all sites will be reinstated to nationally agreed standards after the work has been completed.
