French news and celebrity magazines are reporting that French First Lady Valerie Trierweiler took too many sleeping pills or some other form of medicine after a “blazing row” with her partner, President Francois Hollande.
Although there are reports that she has taken ‘one too many’ pills, her friends have categorically denied that she took an overdose or attempted suicide.
Sources who have reportedly visited her in the hospital said that she is still suffering from extreme nervous exhaustion and that she was low blood pressure.
Europe 1 said: “She tells some friends that she is determined to fight (to keep Hollande). With others, she appears more resigned.”
French gossip magazine Closer, which initially run the story about the president’s alleged affair with 41-year-old actress Julie Gayet, have published more images and alleged today that the affair lasted for two years. This covers the time when Ms Trierweiler was deeply involved in Mr Hollande’s election campaign before he came to office.
Mr Hollande has threatened to sue the magazine for violating France’s strict privacy laws. Ms Gayet herself is now suing Closer and seeking 50,000 euros in damages plus 4,000 euros in legal costs for the same reason.
