Free public WiFi in Ffestiniog
Ffestiniog Town Council to offer free public WiFi to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llan Ffestiniog.
18:08 29 October 2018
Ffestiniog Town Council is set to deliver free WiFi service to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llan Ffestiniog. 90per cent of the cost (£13,500) will be paid for by the Gwynedd Council and Welsh Government while the remaining £1,500 would be funded by the council.
The service will cost £800 a year to maintain.
To keep within data protection rules, everyone who uses the services would be required to submit their email address. The information gathered would be used by the council to track how the system is operating.
Businesses within the area can take advantage of the service but will have to pay £200 installation cost and around £30 a year for maintenance.
It is hoped that the equipment needed to deliver the service will be installed within the next few weeks.
