Freddie Starr has left IÂ’m a Celebrity, ITV have confirmed.
The 68-year-old comedian was withdrawn from the show under doctorÂ’s orders after a jungle health scare.
Starr is said to have fallen ill with an allergic reaction to something he ate in the jungle, with the impressionist explaining:
"The decision's been made and I have to live with that. I wish everyone on the show all the best. I was sorry to hear what the doctors said - that I was allergic to something, to play it safe and it's best for me not to go back in."
ITV have also released a statement confirming the news:
"Producers of IÂ’m a CelebrityÂ…Get Me Out of Here! Have decided that Freddie Starr wonÂ’t return to live in the jungle.
"Freddie has been a terrific contestant. His Bush Tucker trial is one of the stand out moments in the history of the series and we wish him all the best."
Upon being released from hospital, Starr told the Mirror:
"They couldn't find anything wrong with me physically. They checked me over and couldn't find anything wrong with me but told the TV people it's a risk and that I could be allergic to something in the there - and that duty of care ITV has, has to be respected."
Of his time in the jungle, he added:
"They're really nice people and I had a great time in there."
It is yet to be announced who will replace Starr in the ITV jungle competition.
