The 2013 Formula One World Championship racing season is now underway, having kicked off in Australia on March 17th. This 64th season will run through November 24th, when it ends in Brazil.
This year’s field is made up of eleven teams and twenty-two drivers who will compete for the privilege of being crowned the World Drivers’ and World Constructors’ Champion for 2013.
The Formula One World Championship is sanctioned by the IFA, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, and is made up of a series of races called Grand Prix which are held on circuits around the world.
Winners are determined using a point system that scores each event, eventually identifying a winner at the close of the competition.
Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull Renault RB9 team is picked as the favourite to win this year’s competition on the heels of his first place finish in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Other strong contenders are Mark Webber of Red Bull Renault RB9, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari F138, and Jenson Button and Sergio Perez of McLaren-Mercedes MP4-28.
This season promises to be an electrifying one for Formula One World Championship racing.
