Forbes Rich List: Microsoft’s Bill Gates comes in second place
The annual study by Forbes magazine sees Carlos Slim remain at the top of the rich list

The new Forbes Rich List has been released by the US magazine on Tuesday, 5th March. The study, which looks over the last 12 months, positions the world’s billionaires in a list. Coming in first place for another year running is Carlos Slim from Mexico.
Mr. Slim, the 73-year-old businessman, was ranked by Forbes as being the richest billionaire, beating Bill Gates. The rich-man’s business interests include technology, as well as communications.
And of the 210 new billionaires to join the list, Mr. Gates of Microsoft Corporation has maintained his second place position. The 57-year-old American was responsible for co-founding the giant software company with Paul Allen, aged 60, who is also from the US.
Other popular names on Forbes’ list include Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief Executive and Chairman of social network site Facebook. Mr. Zuckerberg has not fulfilled some people’s expectations however, having been ranked 66th. The 28-year-old ranked 35 prior to this.
Many of the billionaires on Forbes magazine rich list have made their own money, although a proportion have come into wealth through inheritance.
Here are the top five billionaires on Forbes’ rich list:
Ø 5th place: Larry Ellison, with £43billion
Ø 4th place: Warren Buffett, $53.5billion
Ø 3rd place: Amancio Ortega, who came in with $57billion
Ø 2nd place: Bill Gates, $67billion
Ø 1st place: Carlos Slim, $73billion
