Floating Hotel Room

The rounded sleeping capsules send guests drifting into ocean before arriving on desert island by morning.

A Japanese company has designed rounded sleeping capsules that drift into the ocean to allow guests to enjoy a night bobbing across the waves before waking up on a blissful sandy shore the next morning.

 

The floating Mizukami Hotel, which is the brainchild of Huis Ten Bosch, is shaped as a perfect-ball that floats across the ocean guided by its built-in mapping system. The sci-fi looking pods can comfortably sleep up to four guests and feature double beds, toilets, showers and a perfect view of the star-spangled sky. Each pod measures 36-38 square metres.

 

Company president Hideo Sawada said: "The room is the same as ordinary hotels.

 

"36-38 square meters and about four people will be able to stay."

 

Huis Ten Bosch is currently transforming the island destination into a luxury resort that is set to be opened for business next winter.
