The Titanic star Kate Winslet proved yesterday that while she may be an English rose, she's certainly no shrinking violet when she offered a pair of her pants in exchange for 10,000 on a UK radio show.

Ms Winslet stunned radio listeners when she offered her underwear on Xfm on Wednesday as part of a competition where members of the public get their celebrity friends to phone in.

The best celebrity collaborator wins their bosom buddy a booty of 10,000.

"Is there anything else I can do to win this 10 grand for my friend?" said the film star born in Reading, Berkshire.

"I could send you my pants - do you want them clean or dirty?" she asked Xfm DJ, Christian O'Connell.
