Corey Haim has died aged 38, the Los Angeles coroner has confirmed.
The actor, who starred alongside '24' star Kiefer Sutherland in cult vampire classic 'The Lost Boys', died in the early hours of this morning at his home.
Haim had been staying with his ill mother Judy to care for her, People reports.
"I am a cancer victim and Corey was helping me at home. He was a good boy," she said.
"I'm devastated by his death."
Reports have speculated the 80s heartthrob died of an accidental drug overdose. Haim suffered a highly public battle with substance addiction in previous years.
However, his agent Mark Heaslip has said he doubts this was the cause for his sudden death.
"I really don't think it was an overdose. He was doing really well," Heaslip told People.
"He did struggle with substance abuse, but I've repped him for a year and a half and part of my agreement with him was that he had to be clean. That was the number one priority."
Haim's mother has reported that the star had suffered flu-like symptoms in the hours before his death.
"Some time after midnight, he got up, he was dizzy and unsteady on his feet and knelt down," LA county coroner assistant chief Ed Winter confirmed.
"His mom helped him to a bed and he became unresponsive in about a minute or so. She dialled 911 and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 2:15 a.m."
Medication bottles were found at the scene but were confirmed by police to be prescription drugs only.
Paying tribute to the actor, Corey Feldman, Haim's co-star in reality show 'The Two Corries' said he wept at the news of his passing.
"This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend," Feldman said in a statement.
A post-mortem is due to be held to determine the cause of death.
