For the first time since his 20-year-old son has killed 20 young children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, the killer’s father said that he wished his son was never born.
Talking to the New Yorker, Peter Lanza added: "You can't get any more evil. How much do I beat up on myself about the fact that he's my son? A lot."
Describing his son, the finance executive who divorced Adam’s mother Nancy in 2009 said that Adam was “just a normal little weird kid” who loved going to Sandy Hook school. He recalled that one Christmas, he even used his savings to buy toys for children in need.
Peter revealed that when Adam was at middle school, he noticed that he was socially awkward, unable to sleep, or concentrate. Also, he began walking awkwardly. At the age of 13, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. However, Peter said that his son condition didn’t have anything to do with the shooting. "Asperger's makes people unusual, but it doesn't make people like this.”
On December 14, 2012, Adam shocked America and the world when he shot his mother in the forehead at home and killed children and staff at Sandy Hook before shooting himself.
