Faster WiFi Demanded by Airline Passengers

As WiFi becomes a necessity, many airlines now offer faster speeds while smaller airlines are offering the service for the first time.

Recent studies show that air passengers consider a number of factors when choosing an airline and one of them is fast and reliable WiFi connection. Thus, many airlines are now offering the service, with many investing more to up their game and your bandwidth.

 

Currently, there are 82 airlines worldwide that offer in-flight WiFi, including Delta Airlines Inc., American Airlines Group Inc. and Emirates.

 

Jason Rabinowitz, the director of Routehappy, which collects airline amenity data for flight shopping, said: “Airlines are quickly moving away from older Wi-Fi systems that provided little utility at extremely high prices. It is now likely that Wi-Fi at 32,000 feet may be cheaper and faster than the Wi-Fi at many airports.”

 

Routehappy's 2018 Wi-Fi state-of-the-industry report names Delta as one of the best along with United Continental Holdings Inc., JetBlue Airways Corp., Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. and Brazil’s GOL.

 

Pricing schemes for inflight WiFi service is highly variable, with some parsing their WiFi into time or data-usage increments and others selling unlimited flight passes.
