Fake Viagra seized near London

Two large bags of Viagra-style drugs were seized from a suburban home near London.

Operation Pangea, a week-long annual initiative across 99 countries involving Interpol has resulted to the arrest of man who was selling fake Viagra online. During the raid, investigators from the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency seized two large bags of Viagra-style drugs. They also confiscated the man’s laptop and documents.

The suspect will be facing prosecution under the Human Medicines Regulations, and he will also possibly be tried for Fraud Act and Proceeds of Crime Act.

According to the report, officials have been monitoring the suspect’s website and the system he uses for taking payments. The officials purchased and tested the tablets. They confirmed the presence of illegal ingredients in the Viagra-style drugs, which are produced in China or India. Combinations of active ingredients found in the drugs are unlicensed for sale in Britain.

Head of operation Danny Lee-Frost clarified that the drugs are probably safe however, the suspect who was selling them is not a licensed doctor or a pharmacist. He added: “We are spoilsports, but imagine the story if someone died and didn’t know the risk.”
