Facts consumers should know about CBD tinctures before investing in them
13:30 18 October 2019
Given the mind-boggling health benefits of CBD, it is not surprising that CBD is gaining momentum among the population of all ages.
Nevertheless, with the vast array of CBD products that are out there in the market, it is overwhelming to choose the most appropriate one. While the most common product available is CBD oil, you can also find chocolates and gummy bears infused with CBD, and now there are CBD tinctures as well. The tinctures comprise of the benefits of the plant in a concentrated level and can be taken orally.
But hey, now that you know that CBD tinctures are gaining popularity, that doesn’t allow you to rush to the store and grab a bottle. Before investing your dollars in a CBD tincture, make sure you know the following things.
- CBD tincture has no similarity with CBD oil
There are many who fail to differentiate between these two products and use them interchangeably. Both CBD oil and tincture are stored in bottles that look identical, and the cultivation process is even similar. But you need to know that the main difference lies in the way in each extract the constituents of the plant. The cannabis plant is soaked in a solution of water and alcohol and this way the tincture is derived. In order to derive CBD oil, the extracts are soaked in either olive oil or coconut oil or hemp seed oil.
- Tinctures should be consumed in smaller doses
As mentioned earlier, tinctures are concentrated than the oil, and hence, it is recommended that it should be taken in smaller doses. Though it isn’t possible to overdose with tinctures but it is better to control yourself. Even though you may have to take tinctures for therapeutic reasons, a larger dose is still not necessary. Tinctures are accompanied with droppers to make it easier to administer.
- Check the label before buying a tincture
As per the Journal of the American Medical Association, only 25% of the CBD products are appropriately labelled. This calls for more attention while buying CBD tinctures. Something that you should watch out for is the COA or the Certificate of Analysis that is the indication of the level of cannabinoid and the extent of purity. In case you don’t see this on the bottle, this might mean that the company is not being honest with its customers.
- Don’t run after the cheap price
There’s no doubt about the fact that CBD tinctures have effective benefits, but you shouldn’t run after cheaper prices. If you have to buy premium quality CBD tinctures, they will necessarily be costly enough. You might come across cheaper CBD tinctures on the market, but they will most probably consist of only isolates and not terpenes. This will make them much less effective.
It is easy to get carried away by the craze behind CBD products, particularly the tinctures but don’t make a wrong decision by forgetting to take into account the above-mentioned points. Make an informed decision as long as CBD tinctures are concerned.
