Facebook is taking action against attempts to hijack your account. It has launched a new feature that allows you to determine whether the messages you received are real or fraudulent. It lists every email it has recently sent to you within the Settings menu on the site. Fraudulent messages will not appear on the list.
The company said: “Facebookmail.com is a common domain that Facebook uses to send notifications when we detect an attempt to log in to your account or change a password,”
“If you’re unsure if an email you received was from Facebook, you can check its legitimacy by visiting facebook.com/settings to view a list of security-related emails that have been recently sent.”
Cybercriminals are using various techniques to make their emails look official to trick users into giving out their personal details, including login information. Others send users to malicious websites that infect computers with malware to steal personal data.
